They are Back to School Again..

This Monday was the back to school again for Brian and Nathan. I was a little bit nervous since it had been 2 weeks for them spending time at home and I could see they were soo..comfortable with that. Hopefully, Nathan did not make any step backward for his school. I knew it was a hard time with him at school since he could not speak English yet. But I knew he used to love school, love to play with his classmates, love maths, colorings and other things they did in school. Just hoping it would go smoothly. And it did. No complaint so far, just a report from Nathan that he did cry a little. Just a little, he said, then it stopped. Ha! I could not believe it!

Today, they went school alright. And Ariel has to wear all his winter uniform. Actually today is the first time he ever wears his blazer. He looks so cute. Ha! And Nathan told him this morning that Ariel looked like a professor. Ha! Really glad that the expensive blazer finally being paid off with his looks. Ha! Right, it was so expensive. It costs me around AU $ 200 just for one piece of blazer. Can you believe it? I had to take a picture of him because of it.

Small Group Lunch

This was the first time for us to be invited in small group lunch in Holy Trinity. Pat called me on Wednesday night and informed that the lunch for the small group was on again. She expected us to join with their group. It was a great invitation and we were all eager to join them for lunch on Sunday. We were supposed to bring our own meat and one dish to share with others. It was not difficult at all.

On Saturday, as usual, I asked my husband to go to Central Market earlier that day. Hoping I would get all my stuff to cook for Sunday. I planned to make chicken/beef satay and fruit salads. It will always be my kids's favourite. Okay, we finally drove at 10 am. It is 1.5 hours earlier that our usual time on Saturday. Hehe.. it just became better and better.

I got everything I need including rice crackers my kids' love to bring for their reccess at school. I got rambutan, lychee from the can. I thought I would make great fruit salads.

The BBQ started at 12.15 pm as planned. And my husband did great job to get all my chicken and beef satay cooked just fine. Everything were prepared and we started eating at 1 pm. All kids were starving. They grabbed the food just after we finished saying grace. It was a lovely time and great time for us to make friends and get to know more about people in Holy Trinity. Really sorry, not to get the pictures of all the guys that doing all the BBQ and we - the ladies - that doing all the cleaning after eating. Maybe later.

Could not waiting until next lunch in May. ha! I have started planning the food I will share next time.

Adelaide Zoo

They were still in school holiday. A week has passed and still another week to go. Unfortunately they did not have any school activity during the school break here. All people prefer to get a holiday rather than having another aducational course here. Even the taekwondo lesson was off for holiday. Can you believe it? It cross in my mind to put kids to vacation care, but i thought it will not work out for them. I need an activity for them. So got to plan a trip for them.

We went to Museum and Art Gallery last week and this week we planned to see the zoo. It is not really big zoo. But not bad for visiting I guess. We are in new city so get to find out what they get here, right. So..Adelaide Zoo, indeed..

We drove on Wednerday at 11.00 pm. I had to feed them first. Hopefully, there were plenty of parking places there. After searching quite sometimes, we finally got the parking space. Little bit far, though, but it was ok. At least we got the space. Ha!

It turned out more people in the zoo. No wonder, it was a school holiday. I will post some picture on this post. So..just see the beautiful animals they got in adelaide zoo. Unfortunately, my husband could not go along. He had to work. Poor him! May be some other time.

Fried Banana Ball

Last Saturday, just got back from the city and watching movie, Nim's Islands, i thought it was just a great time to have a snack. Just looking into my food cabinet in the kitchen and there were some lady finger bananas. So why did I make banana fried. Hhhmm...

I cut them into cubes and put into into batter. The ingredients for the batter are:
all purposes flour
rice flour
salt
1 egg
butter
water
mix them together until smooth. I have a weakness not diligent in taking note of my cooking except for the cakes. So just take flour as much as you like and add rice flour just half of the volume of the flour. It is easy, right? haha.. Then, just fry them.

Serve it with Teh Tarik. Wow..it is so good. Unfortunately, I did not make it with the fragrant tea and condensed milk. Just using the instant one. Not bad for the quick and delicious result. Next time I will post it how to make the Teh Tarik. Just wait!
The result is like in this picture. It looks yummy and it does taste yummy as well.

My Thought

It is Friday, April 4 - if I am not mistaken. Ha! Yup, I could not remember days anymore. Brian is sick. He got wind pain last night and vomited few times. All the blankets are dirty now. So today is also my national day of laundrying. Haha.. Lucky me! But this morning he is getting better. I cooked him plain rice porridge and it usually works for him. But not to my other sons, Ariel and Nathan. They both are more to soup person.

So got Brian ok now, did the laundry and will run soon to pick up kids from school. What a day!

But there is one thing I forgot today. Today is PE Sport Fun Day in Brian and Nathan's school. It should be games there and all parents are invited to play along. But since Brian is sick, I asked my husband to drive the other 2 to school. And he just called that he caught up at school until 11.30 am since Nathan need him to do sport together. Lucky him! That is also what he would say. Ha! But the only one we both regret of is my husband forgot to bring the camera. I said to him not to be sorry about it since the cameras are broken anyway. The digital cannot read the card. My NiKon manual cannot zoom anymore, I think the lense is stuck somewhere. I made appointment to get them fix tommorow in the city. Hope it get fixed soon so we can get nice and memorable photos again.

Get to go now. The kids will dismiss soon. See yaa...

My Kitchen Secrets

It has been few days I did not write at all on this blog. I think it is a good time for me to write again since all the issues have been followed up yet. Besides, what you can expect if we need any body else to finalize it. I learnt many times that it is much better to wait and pray because as a person I di have weakness. Sometimes it hurts me so much knowing that several things just cannot be done as I want. But patient makes me stronger each day since I know it will buy me sometimes to think and examine my needs towards everythings. So just wait and write and this moment. Ha!

Anyway, I would like to share about my kitchen. Since moving here, I brought so many things - not too many actually - but things that I need as Indonesian and I know that i could not find it in Australia. Want to know what is it?

The rice keeper. Eventhough my husband and I had lived in US for 4 years, we still cannot eat bread and potato as main course. Especially my husband. Ha! So..knowing it at the first moment we plan to Australia, I bought Cosmos - the rice keeper. Hoorrraayyy...feeling so lucky having it since. Haha..

Then I also bought Takahi - Electric Crockery Pot - something like a slow cooker pot. I thought it is good to keep my soup warm everytime. So when the kids get home or want the soup it will be right in front of their nose in a second. Ha! But unfortunately, there are so many electric slow cooker pot here. Hiks.. This time I felt not so smart bringing it here.

But one thing I felt so sorry not bringing it here with us is the rice cooker. They sold it here allright. In some events the price just can beat the price in Indonesia. I bought it but it cannot keep the rice warm since the lid is so thin and made from glass. So I will find some dried rice in it in a few hours. There is another rice cooker that have thick and full cover lid but it is so expensice compare if we buy it in Indonesia. So, my plan is just asking any body who will come here to bring it for me. Isn't it clever? Ha!

Since my kids love fresh milk so much. My fridge is also full of milk in any flavors and yoghurt and don't forget (psssttt....) some instant seasoning bottles. Ha! The milk here is so fresh and bit sweet that the one we used to have in Batam. Wow..my kids love it so much.
